Shakira Feat. Dizzee Rascal ‘Loca’

Despite the rather tepid reception global audiences gave to her latest English album ‘She Wolf’, Shakira has remained unstoppable and is now ready to go back to her roots in her new Spanish language album ‘Sale El Sol’ (The Sun Comes Out). The Colombian superstar who stormed the global charts last July with the World Cup anthem ‘Waka Waka’ is ready to once more steal this summer’s spotlight right before it ends with her new tropical-flavoured track ‘Loca’.

Originally a meringue hit by Dominican artist El Cata, who also features in Shakira’s cover. The biggest surprise of ‘Loca’, though, appears in its English version, where an unexpected collaboration with original British grime rapper Dizzee Rascal is already generating headlines all across the music press. Shakira is no stranger to having hip-hop guests in her records; Will.I.Am; Lil Wayne or Wycleff Jean count among them, but it’s the first time she teams up with someone as leftfield as Rascal.

While some copies of the track have appeared across the interent, Shakira’s label swiftly removed them. For more info stay tuned to Shakira’s MySpace, where a version of ‘Loca’ – minus Mr. Rascal – can currently be streamed.

‘Sale El Sol’ will be released on October 10th featuring both singles in their English and Spanish versions.

Black Eyed Peas top the US Tag Chart again this week with ‘I Gotta Feelin’; making it an omnipresent 5 weeks at the top for the rap crew. With David Guetta about to release a much hyped hook up with Akon and plenty of singles still to come from Black Eyed Peas’ latest album, don’t be surprised if the electro/hip-hop sound is still topping our charts for the rest of the Summer. A new release comes this week from Shakira, whose latest track ‘She Wolf’ sees the Columbian return to the US charts.

Shazam Around The World: In Search Of The Summer Song

Summer’s already here. Millions are packing their stuff in order to get a well deserved rest in sunny latitudes around the world, the perfect targets of the many contenders for the title of Summer Song 2009. Dozens of dance crazes, Uber cheesy Europop or pseudo reggae numbers will compete against each other to become part of the holiday experience of many. The lucky ones will be inescapable and may turn into global smashes after the season finishes and holidaymakers recall their pleasant memories.
Shazam wants to give a glimpse at this year’s candidates, currently breaking the airwaves and clubs in all the usual places. Beginning with the perfect novelty record, Mexican film star Gael Garcia Bernal’s tongue-in-cheek Spanish cover of Cheap Trick’s rock classic “I want you to want me”, as included in the soundtrack of his latest film “Rudo & Cursi”.
The film tells the story of two brothers who become big football stars, although Cursi’s real dream is to be a singer. Showcasing his enthusiasm, yet lack of artistic talent through this fake promo for “Quiero Que Me Quieras”, Originally it was just one of the jokes in the screenplay, but thanks to Garcia Bernal’s star power is already hitting radio stations across the Latin World.
