Dubstep dudes Chase & Status

British Indie Bible NME has jumped head first into the murky waters of dance music this week with the announcement that it will be giving 20 of the best Dubstep tunes away for free on its website. Usually batches of free legal downloads are a mixed bag with the odd gem to be found amongst the rubble; however, the downloads on offer here appear to be all killer and absolutely no filler. Highlights include the futuristic funk of Joker’s ‘Solid State’; Rusko’s lairy re-rub of Little Boot’s pop-tastic ‘Remedy’ and Snoop Dogg’s amazing take on Chase & Status,  ‘Snoop Dogg Millionaire’.

All of the downloads can be found by following this link.

Turn the subwoofers up, thrown on that check shirt and get ready to skank out!

New Music First!: Soft Toy Emergency

SoftToyEmergency

Soft Toy Emergency have been bubbling under our radar for a while. We first caught their frantic blend of pop, electro and indie at last year’s inaugural In The City festival in Manchester. Since then they’ve been relentlessly touring with the likes of Friendly Fires and Little Boots , as well as winning plaudits from tastemakers such as Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and the NME – who included their debut single ‘I Know U Want It’ as a Track of the Week .

The band have now signed to dance imprint All Around The World, home to the likes of N-Dubz & Cascada. The label has previously shown a successful knack of un-earthing mainstream talent, the platinum selling N-Dubz being a prime example. Released on November 16th ‘Critical’ is a storming, infectious floor filler that will instantly speak to pop fans, whilst simultaneously retaining enough edge to appeal to the indie crowd.

The band are currently on a headline tour up and down the UK before supporting fellow synth rock purveyors Hadouken! For more information head to their MySpace.

Introducing… Modernaire

Modernaire

We recently encountered electro-pop outfit Modernaire thanks to their ultra catchy single ‘Faites Vos Jeux’. The track evokes the twisted pop of Metronomy, if they were fronted by two sassy young ladies. The, currently unsigned, Manchester based four piece have slowly building their reputation trekking across the country supporting the likes of The Ting Tings, Friendly Fires and Who Made Who (click here to listen the bands remix of the aforementioned Belgian’s ‘Keep Me In My Plane’).

If you’re a fan of the recent rise of female electro bands like La Roux and Little Boots, then you should head to their Myspace and show them some love.
