On 22nd November this year, two of the biggest names in UK pop will go head to head and release their latest albums on the same day. Seasoned veterans Take That, boosted by the recent addition of former member Robbie Williams, will see their new album ‘The Flood’ go against ‘Outta This World’ the second album from former X-Factor upstarts JLS.
The clash has been likened to the infamous chart battle between Oasis and Blur in the mid-nineties – where the Manchester bands ‘Roll With It’ was pipped to the number one spot by Damon Albarn and co’s ‘Country House’. In an almost David and Goliath like battle, the young pretenders to the throne will take on Britain’s most successful band and it will certainly be interesting to see who comes out on top.
For fans of Take That who might have missed the news – we recently teamed up with their label Polydor to create a priceless Golden Tag for one lucky UK Shazamer! If you would like to win the chance to attend a once-in-a-lifetime Take That performance followed by an exclusive meet and greet with the band, read on to find out more… Read more…

New entries to the chart come from Miss Li, Passion Pit, Gucci Mane, JLS, Owl City, Leona Lewis and Vampire Weekend.

This week JLS retain the number one spot in the Shazam UK Pre-release Tag Chart with their pop/R&B bubbler, ‘Beat Again’. Meanwhile new releases come from US dance maestro Ian Carey and Drum & Bass don Danny Byrd – whose track ‘Red Mist’ is still causing havoc for DJ’s such as Annie Mac and has made its way onto the Radio1 daytime list.

JLS – Beat Again (Syco)

Despite being piped to the X Factor crown last year, it looks as though cheeky R&B boy band JLS could still be headed for pop stardom. Although the band couldn’t match the vocal gymnastics of eventual X-factor winner Alexandra Burke, the group’s youthful charm and colour coded outfits still managed to win them plenty of fans. In the early weeks Jack The Lad Swing, to give JLS their full name, found themselves in the bottom two of the competition but by the semi finals the group had turned it around, gaining the most votes in the penultimate week of the competition.
Whilst Alexandra Burke will have to compete with a plethora of female acts to gain attention of the music buying public, Leona Lewis, Duffy, Adele and La Roux to name but a few – JLS are probably the only ‘proper’ boy band around at the moment. This is especially odd when you consider it was only a few years ago that boy bands were the dominant force in British pop and you can bet Simon Cowell has already spotted the potential for JLS to conquer the profitable teenage music market. With this in mind, JLS go for the pop jugular on their first single, ‘Beat Again’, which is reminiscent of a Blue single with touches of Lady Gaga-esque production. Fresh from a recent tour with Lemar and the X-Factor winners, expect JLS to launch a full on assault on the charts in the next few weeks.
