White Lies @ Shoreditch Town Hall

Last week we attended a fantastic gig set in the luxurious surroundings of Shoreditch Town Hall, the event boasted a fantastic line up of British music talent. Headlining the evening were White Lies, who debuted new material from their forthcoming second album ‘Ritual’. From the sound of the new tracks played, the album is shaping up to be a confident step up from their debut.

Earlier in the night Everything Everything delivered a set that showcased their gloriously chaotic tracks such as ‘Schoolin’ and ‘Photoshop Handsome’. Lead singer Jonathan’s vocals effortlessly range to an almost choir boy like scream, while the band seamlessly warmed up the crowd before White Lies. Also appearing were I Am Arrows, the latest project from former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows. Burrows has taken to the role of frontman with ease, leading the band through tracks from their debut album ‘Sun Comes Up Again’.

A second event in the planned series, will take place at The Monastery in Manchester on November 18th, where UK rapper Tinchy Stryder will appear with support from I Blame Coco and Kid Adrift. Free tickets can be won by registering for the event here.

See below for more exclusive photos from the night:

New Music First! I Am Arrows

While you may not be familiar with the name I Am Arrows, you will probably recognise their frontman. Andy Burrows was previously the drummer in Razorlight, however, after announcing his departure from the band due to “personal reasons” Burrows quickly moved to form a new band, I Am Arrows.  The path from drum stool to frontman is not a well worn one. With the exception of Dave Grohl and (ahem) Phil Collins there aren’t many drummers who have successfully made the leap to the microphone. However, Burrows has proven an exception to the rule. After all, the former sticksman co-wrote a number of Razorlight’s biggest hits – including the UK #1 America.

I Am Arrows have written a clutch of breezy West Coast Americana inspired tracks and will be touring across the UK in September, check their MySpace now for more info. For a preview of their live show, see the above video of the band performing ‘The Us’ at London’s Old Blue Last. Their debut album ‘Sun Comes Up Again’ is released on 16th August and is available to pre order on Amazon.
