The label’s association with stunning clubs like Pacha Ibiza gives the label a certain glamorous image – the antithesis of which is probably London’s grungy rock-centric Camden. As part of the much acclaimed iTunes festival, Defected are putting together some of the biggest voices in disco and house and backing them up with a ridiculously tight live band. Heading proceedings will be the legendary Candi Staton, she of ‘You Got The Love’ and ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ fame. Also performing will be NYC vocal powerhouse Barbra Tucker and Bob Sinclar cohort Steve Edwards.

With the weather emergining from the jaws of Winter and into Summer, excitement for the dance music community’s annual migration to the Balearic Islands is mounting. Early news indicates that the line up will be as action packed as ever: despite the fact that tourism Ibiza has been pinched in recent years by rising prices and competition from events such as The Miami Winter Music Conference.
DC-10, Ibiza’s most infamous nightspot, has announced it will re-open this year after a forced term of absence while big clubs such as Amnesia and Pacha continue to attract the crème of credible dance music talent – most notably Luciano’s Cadenza night and Sven Väth’s legendary Cocoon parties. Music wise Ibiza looks in great shape, even if it still remains one hell of an expensive holiday…

Although it’s perhaps best known for its canals, historic museums and, ahem, liberal attitude towards jazz cigarettes; Amsterdam is currently gaining a reputation as one of Europe’s best clubbing night spots - rivalling Berlin, London and Ibiza.
A big factor in the increased interest in Amsterdam’s nightlife is the continued success of The Amsterdam Dance Event – a music conference and clubbing spectacular which is seen as the European version of the Miami Winter Music Conference. The event pulls in all of the big music industry movers and shakers but also sees the world’s top DJ’s and electronic acts descend on the city with the likes of Sven Vath, Boys Noize, Deadmau5, Freemasons, Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin all performing between October 21st and 24th.
Not to be left out, British/NYC house labels Defected and Strictly Rhythm are joining forces at the ADE for one of their biggest parties ever. Featuring a roster of talent that includes Kenny Dope, Shapeshifters and DJ Gregory the event promises to be one of the stand out nights of the week. Added to this, Defected are releasing an accompanying ‘In The House Amsterdam’ compilation; mixed by Dutch Dance music mainstays Hardsoul & Chocolate Puma.

Meanwhile taking over the main room will be The Shapeshifters and electro house favourites ATFC who promise to bring the best in big room club music to Ministry’s legendary dance floor.
