Braids – Native Speaker
Destroyer – Kaputt
Galaxie – Tigre Et Diesel
Hey Rosetta! – Seeds

Dave Grohl has always had a well developed sense of humour. One of the first singles released by Foo Fighters was called ‘For All The Cows’. Throughout the recording of many of their videos (‘Learn To Fly’ in particular) Grohl has spent a considerable amount of time in drag, or fat suits, or sometimes both (indeed, Foo Fighters have had their fair share of awesome moments). So when a Foo Fighters concert in Kansas was picketed by the Westboro Baptist Church, the Foos decided to fight back, and launch their own counter-protest against the picket.
Westboro Baptist Church have been dubbed as America’s most hated family. With their strong anti-gay beliefs, the radical right wing group frequently picket the concerts of rock artists. They obviously didn’t bank on the Foo Fighters driving out to picket the picket, and overpowering the protest by singing a very very loud ‘gay love song’.
Dressed in the same outfits as they wear in the video, the band played loud and proud. Grohl also addressed the crowd: “I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds!”

Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Kate Bush is set to release her tenth album – the second from the influential singer in 2011. ’50 Words For Snow’ is her new offering, scheduled for release in November, which follows ‘Director’s Cut’, released in May. Though the latter was a collection of re-recorded versions of tracks from her 1989 album ‘The Sensual World’ and 1993′s ‘The Red Shoes’, ’50 Words For Snow’ is her first studio album since 2005′s ‘Aerial’.
Though ’50 Words For Snow’ only consists of seven tracks, the album is 65 minutes long, set against the sounds of falling snow.
News of the release had many plans hoping Bush would set off to tour. But the singer has mixed views on touring – she has only toured once (in 1979), and contrary to popular belief, she did enjoy the experience. Earlier this year she hinted she might want to play some live shows “Maybe I will do some shows some day. I’d like to think so before I get too ancient – turn up with me Zimmer frame!” she said to Mojo.
But in a recent interview on 6Music, she appeared to change her mind.
“I haven’t got any plans to do any live shows whatsoever. I’m very much engrossed in trying to making new material,” she said. “I’m extremely flattered that people are interested.”
’50 Words For Snow’ will be released on 21 November 2011, on Bush’s own Fish People imprint.

We’ve already heard two singles from Coldplay’s new album – ‘Paradise’ and ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, that were released earlier this year. Now, finally, it’s time to get your ears around the full album. The intriguingly named ‘Mylo Xyloto’ features production from Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson; not to mention the additional composition by Brian Eno.
‘Mylo Xyloto’ also features one of the most unlikely guest stars you’d expect to see on a Coldplay album – none other than Bajan bombshell Rihanna. Though it’s an unexpected pairing, Rihanna definitely adds a new dimension to Coldplay track ‘Princess Of China’, though the hardest part of getting her involved, according to Chris Martin, was plucking up the courage to ask her!
“The album is designed as a whole piece. It has boy and girl lead characters and top of our list for the girl part was Rihanna… but it took a while to pluck up the courage to ask her,” says Chris Martin. “We did a show in Las Vegas and I met her and said, ‘Do you think there’s any chance?’ I was very Hugh Grant-like and spluttering about it. She has such an amazing voice and it’s so different to mine. When the vocal happened I thought ‘Wow, you sound different’ but I think that’s also because she was singing a different song to what we are used to hearing from her and it is written by a bloke from Devon.”
If you like your music packaged pretty, then the album ticks that box too – due for release on digital, CD and vinyl formats, as well as coming in a special limited edition pop-up edition. This also has a hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art, designed by David A Carter, vinyl, CD and exclusive content including photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band’s personal notebooks.
Although some sources have speculated that is due to by Coldplay’s last ever album, five albums in, Coldplay are still going strong. Whether they can reach the same dizzy heights again remains to be seen…
Mylo Xyloto will be released October 24/25 (UK/USA).

When two of the world’s biggest selling artists announce that they have created an album together, it’s only right that one of the world’s top directors is drafted in to create the video. ‘Otis’ is the first single from Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaboration album, ‘Watch The Throne’, and legendary filmmaker Spike Jonze has directed the video.
A world away from the low-budget look of Jonze’s famed work on the Fatboy Slim’s ‘Praise You’ video, ‘Otis’ oozes money. The track, which heavily samples Otis Redding’s ‘Try A Little Tenderness’, is playing over the opening long shot of a pristine Maybach. Jay Z and Kanye approach the car carrying heavy-duty tools and a team begins to pull the Maybach apart as Jay Z and Kanye West rap against the backdrop of a huge American flag. Once the Maybach is sufficiently destroyed, Jay Z and Kanye jump in for a ride, accompanied by four beautiful women and lashings of bling.
Spike Jonze’s slick camera work captures the thrill of riding around in a Maybach with no doors and his ability to get up-close and personal with the rap stars makes for thoroughly entertaining viewing. The video for ‘Otis’ is the ultimate in the American Dream and the red, white and blue color scheme runs through everything from the clear sky to the laces in Jay Z’s sneakers.
The message is simple here: the American Dream is attainable and it’s nothing but girls, money and fun, but until you get there enjoy watching us having a ball.
Proving that it’s important to give back when you’re raking in the dollars, Jay Z and Kanye West are putting the destroyed Maybach from the video up for auction to raise money for the East African Drought Disaster. Check out the video here.
