Beautiful People, a positive message song projected to you by way of announcement making synths. In times of economic uncertainty and recession, it gave everyone a much needed lift.

In a very left field manner from Chris Brown’s usual formula-which has gained him top ten hits in the US with ‘Gimme That’ & ‘Poppin’, the Benny Benassi production combined uptempo electro house & R&B to create a luscious sounding dance floor smash.

‘Beautiful People’ is a stand-out track amongst average pop music which has recently adopted the uptempo electro house signature. In the Billboard dance charts, it reached No 1 and went on to be a top ten hit around the world including Australia & New Zealand.

Chris Brown was nominated for best male artist & best album in the Soul/R&B category at the American Music Awards 2011 after successfully releasing his fourth album titled F.A.M.E (Fans Are My Everything). Other accolades include winning album of the Year at the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards. ‘Look At Me Now’ the second single from the album has also earned Chris Brown three nominations for the 2011 Grammy’s.

Listen to Beautiful people here.

Win A Signed Rebecca Ferguson Album

November 28th, 2011
Comments Off

It’s just over a year since Rebecca Ferguson introduced herself to the world on the UK’s X Factor. The painfully shy single mother, and eventual runner up of the competition, produced the show’s most memorable performance of the season during her audition, a fact that’s bolstered by the video’s 2.9 million plus views on Youtube.

Her debut single ‘Nothing’s Real But Love’ is passionate yet displays the control that only a great singer can muster. The subject is one close to Rebecca’s heart; “People used to say to me, ‘Being rich doesn’t make you happy.’ And I’d think, I’ve got no electricity. Tell that to my empty fridge. But now I’m doing okay I realise they were right. It doesn’t matter what you’ve got, as long as you’ve got love. I know that sounds cheesy, but that’s everything.”

To celebrate the release of Rebecca Ferguson’s debut single “Nothing’s Real But Love”, Shazam are giving you the chance to win a signed copy of Rebecca’s forth coming album, “Heaven”, out 5th December.

Rebecca Ferguson- Nothing’s Real But Love

November 22nd, 2011

Rebecca Ferguson came by the Shazam studio for an exclusive performance of ‘Nothing’s Real But Love’ from her brand new album ‘Heaven’. The album does not pander to fashion; it’s not a hybrid of every current hip music genre, shaken around a bit and mixed into an amorphous lump. This is soul; raw emotion pours out of every fibre of every note making her pop rivals sound predictable and ordinary.

Created over the last 11 months, the album is highly accomplished and timeless piece of work. From the sweet pared back piano led ‘Teach Me How To Be Loved’ to the 100 miles a minute ‘Backtrack’ with its fierce drum beats, to the big band sound of ‘Fairytale’, Rebecca’s voice soars effortlessly. And if ‘Shoulder To Shoulder’ doesn’t make you cry then there must be androids amongst us.

On her single ‘Nothing’s Real But Love’ Rebecca states “No money, no car, can beat love” as what’s really important in life.

Incredibly humble, but with an eye trained firmly on the future, her potential is vast. She comments “I am very proud of this album. It wasn’t easy to write and I poured that much of myself into it that if people don’t like it, it’ll be hard; but I’ll take that on the chin. As long as people can say ‘I believed what she was saying, that’s the ultimate.”
