DJ Drama Feat. 2 Chainz, Meek Mill & Jeremih – My Moment

October 21st, 2012

Over a bunch of albums and more mixtapes than you could shake a whole forest of sticks at, DJ Drama has built up a pretty bug name for himself. It’s something that’s reflected in latest single ‘My Moment’ which boasts an impressive roster of guests. Drama clearly has some good contacts.

‘My Moment’ comes from new album ‘Quality Street Music’. Rather than a celebration of the popular chocolate assortment that some British confectionery fans might expect, it’s actually an epic, star-studded offering that seems set to continue Drama’s upward climb.

“Song-wise and material, from beginning to end, it’s got really strong records and it really flows,” Drama told Complex. “The collaborations are really fun and interesting and dope.”

Ah yes, the collaborations. If there was a Grammy for the most star-packed record of the year, it’s a pretty sure bet that ‘Quality Street Music’ would walk it. Reading like a who’s who of the hip hop game, the album features spots from Young Jeezy, Cee-Lo Green, Common, Kendrick Lamar, Tyga, Tyler the Creator, Whiz Khalifa and a load more too numerous to list here. With more than 40 listed collaborators, how on earth did Drama keep things under control?

“A lot of the work wasn’t done in [my] studio,” he said. “I came up with the concepts and got a couple people in the studio, but there was a bunch that was done from where whoever was on it was, because there’s a lot of busy people on there. Waka and Tyler, the Creator—that track is a fun one. Common and Kendrick Lamar. ‘We In This Bitch’ was another good one. I think the ‘Chocolate Droppa’ skit with Kevin Hart is hilarious.”

As a firm believer that skits are the worst thing to happen to hip hop since Vanilla Ice, we’ll have to see if that final statement turns out to be true. The album drops in the UK at the end of the month, so you’ll be able to judge for yourself then.
