Jessie Ware – 110%

Listening to Jessie Ware’s blissed out vocals, it’s almost like the 2000′s never happened. You’re transported back to the early days of pure 80s synth-driven r’n'b – her voice bears an uncanny resemblance to soul diva Sade. But Jessie’s latest single has a very on-trend sound, with a little help from producer of the moment, Julio Bashmore.
The song is likely to be one of the summer’s biggest underground anthems. It’s a softly bubbling springtime sizzler, recorded partly at Red Bull Studios London and released on PMR on 4th June. The track follows up Jessie’s earlier offering, ‘Running’ and moves the pace up a gear, no doubt courtesy of Julio’s influence.
‘110%’ was the first song that Jessie and Julio wrote together, and the pair completed it nearly a year ago. “I am a sucker for songs about dancing, so I decided to write one about dancing on your own,” says Jessie. “I am really happy people are enjoying it.”
The video – directed by London-based designer Kate Moross – was shot in Painsall Park in Cobham, a National Trust park that is full of caves, bandstands, daffodils, and swans.
“It was a boiling hot day the day we shot it, thank god! If it had rained or looked cold in the slightest, I think the video would have been a disaster,” says Jessie. “I am very glad Bashy decided to make a cameo in it too, he’s was an absolute pro every take we did. Me, not so much, I couldn’t stop giggling, which you can just about see when Bashy closes the car door for me. Such a great day.”
As for the future, Jessie is finishing up her debut album and in the midst of planning her next video. Keep ‘em peeled…
