Wild Flag – Camden Electric Ballroom 01/02/2012
We braved the biting cold of Camden Town to venture down to the Electric Ballroom last week, to catch the mighty Wild Flag in celebratory mood as they mark their biggest set of UK shows to date with a gig in the capital.
The Portland and Washington based near veterans of lo fi indie garage rock did not disappoint those packed inside, with a thunderous set drawing heavily from their self titled debut. Joint front women Carrie Brownstein and Mary Timothy command the stage with a relaxed spirit that makes the whole show feel as if it could be in some achingly cool friend’s basement, rather inside this 1,000+ capacity venue, cracking jokes and striking rock poses as they go.
The band head to Europe for more dates in March, the heading to Australia, before returning to the US for a tour through April and May. For more information, head to their website.
