Win Signed Cults 7″s!

July 26th, 2011

Cults are fronted by New York couple Brian Oblivion and Madeline Fox, since their inception the band have been on the receiving end of some intimidating hype. With melodies that recall Phil Spector’s early work, this boy/girl duo soon got the likes of Pitchfork swooning with their early demos. That, plus a vague air of mystery added by their enigmatic website, ensured people were quickly trying to find out more about the band; including one Lily Allen, who snapped up the band as her first signing to her label In The Name Of, a joint venture with Columbia.

Their self titled debut album was released to wide acclaim at the end of May, with eleven tracks that fully justified the buzz they’ve so far received. While on the surface, a band comprising of a couple singing doe-eyed jangly pop could seem overly saccharine, Cults’ off kilter pop will change the minds of even the most harden cynic.

Their forthcoming single ‘Go Outside’ is set for release on August 28th and comes backed by two remixes from Luka C & Brigante and the 2 Bears. The latter’s effort can currently be heard sound-tracking a UK ad campaign for Brothers Cider.

We have 8 limited white vinyl 7”s to giveaway, all signed by the band. The 7” features the original ‘Go Outside’ plus the 2 Bears remix on the flip side. To be in with a chance to win, email competition@shazamteam.com with your answer to the question below:
