New Music First! Tired Pony Feat. Zoeey Deschanel ‘Point Me At Lost Islands’
The concept of the Supergroup, in which members of different bands get together for a (usually) one-off side project, was extremely popular during the 70s but over following decades it faded away, considered an uncool thing from the past. However, judging by the amount of recent new examples, it seems that it’s back in trend.
To those names who quickly come to mind: The New Pornographers; Them Crooked Vultures or Monsters Of Folk, we can add a brand new one: Tired Pony.
Tired Pony was formed by Snow Patrol’s singer Gary Lightbody, next to R.E.M.’S Peter Buck and Belle & Sebastian’s Richard Colburn. Their first album ‘The Place We Ran From’ will be released in the UK on July 12th via Fiction Records and also features collaborations with M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel. The track recorded with Deschanel, ‘Point Me At Lost Islands’, has been chosen as the first taster and the rest of the songs can currently be previewed at the band’s YouTube page.
