Tag Of The Day! Erykha Badu ‘Can’t Turn Me Away’
Erykha Badu’s ‘New Amerykha Part Two’ looks to be one of the early contenders for R&B album of the year. The album’s mix of live instrumentation, sampling and Erykha’s unmistakable voice has seen plaudits for the singer come in from all corners.
The second single to be taken from the album is ‘Can’t Turn Me Away (Get Munny)’, one of the album’s definite standout moments. Using Sylvia Striplin’s 70’s jazz funk record of the same name as a basis, Erykha works her magic by mixing in elements of Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Get Money’ with her own original vocals. It’s almost certainly one of the singer’s most commercially appealing singles since she first appeared on the scene in the mid ‘90’s.
In other Erykha news, the Texan singer will be embarking on an expansive tour of the USA. Support has already been confirmed as Bilal, N.E.R.D. and ?uestlove form the always on point hip hop pioneers, The Roots.
